What is preeclampsia?

High blood pressure with protein in urine or other organ signs, usually after 20 weeks. Can worsen quickly.

Danger signs

  • Severe headache not relieved by usual safe analgesics.
  • Blurred vision or flashing lights.
  • Sudden facial/hand swelling, upper abdominal pain.
  • Decreased fetal movement.

Nutrition note

Do not extreme salt restriction on your own; follow medical treatment including hospital magnesium sulfate when indicated.
